VCP Outreach Center Opens

August 30, 2023

Veterans Community Project announces the opening of the VCP Outreach Center, a new 6,600-square-foot facility designed to provide walk-in support services to any U.S. veteran in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

Building on a network of trusted community partners, VCP assists veterans with navigating the VA and their benefits, emergency assistance funds, housing, mental and physical health referrals, and employment supports.

In their first week alone, case managers helped two Veterans secure housing through one of VCP's partner agencies.

“Their commitment to fostering a collaborative community that empowers veterans is both commendable and inspiring," says Greg Stanton of the VA Hope Center.

Through community donations, VCP also provides hygiene kits, food, and other basic necessities. All services are free of charge to any person who has taken the oath regardless of discharge status or type of service.

"Asking for help is hard, especially when you're a veteran," says Rebecca Tallman, Executive Director of Veterans Community Project. "We might only get one chance when a veteran walks through our door. We have to be ready to say 'yes'."

Located at 1515 N. Grand Boulevard, the Outreach Center is the cornerstone of VCP's nearly 4-acre campus which includes VCP Village, a transitional housing community for Veterans experiencing homelessness. Construction of the Village's 50 tiny homes began in spring 2022; veterans will begin taking residence this fall.

The VCP Outreach Center is currently open for walk-in services on Tuesdays and Thursdays (10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.). Veterans may also call 314-501-2810 to schedule an appointment.
